In the beginning there was the vision of new interior design – horizontal, powerful lines should create and characterise generous, modern living areas.
That is why the wooden furniture in the mundus range is considerably thicker than usual – thicknesses of 28 mm for shelves, for example, and 70 mm for the base panels express power and strength. All the doors and drawers are recessed slightly 20 mm to create a structure that appears plastic.
Peter Maly has chosen high quality woods for this product range such as dark-stained zebrano or oak and high-gloss or matt finishes from white to sand (naturally all other colours in the behr range can also be used). The surfaces are accentuated by metal details – with the metal feet of the furniture, which are let into the base panels and make the furniture appear to float, being particularly characteristic.
The shelves also have metal supports, which link the large surface areas at offsets and create a lively appearance. Horizontal metal handles, perfectly integrated into the fronts, support the overall effect. The emphasis on the horizontal is characteristic of mundus. For example there are chests of drawers with widths of up to 240 cm. Each element is a solitary piece, but their combination creates perfect, horizontal rows. There are four heights available – low board (70 cm), sideboard (79 cm), high board (126 cm) and shelves (199 cm).
The elements or combinations should ideally extend from wall to wall (matching compensating elements are available for this purpose), but should never fill a wall from floor to ceiling. mundus is not a wall unit! mundus is flat, features straight lines and provides space for large format pictures.
Special attention has been given to the effective presentation and integration of modern TV screens. The sideboards offer plenty of storage space for other equipment.
